Ghost Shrimp

 

The Ghost Shrimp is a common feeder shrimp sold across aquarium stores everywhere. Ghost Shrimp is used to classify any one of Thalassinidea, Palaemonetes, and Caprellidae categories of shrimp. The most common ghost shrimp sold in the United States is the American Glass Shrimp, of genus Palaemonetes. Temperament largely depends on the species of Ghost Shrimp, for a community tank, generally avoid shrimps with large elongated claws like the one pictured above, many aggressive macrobrachium species are also labeled as Ghost Shrimp. Most species of Ghost Shrimp are very hardy and tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.
