Crystal Black Shrimp (CBS)

Crystal Black Shrimp

Crystal Black Shrimp (CBS) another color morph of the wild Orange Bee, it is unclear whether the CBS morphed directly from the Orange Bee or from the established Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS). CBS and CRS can be kept in the same tank and do interbreed. Offspring will be CBS or CRS, although occasionally a brown crystal shrimp results–the brown is a recessive trait that has not been stabilized.

Grading and Variations

Crystal Black Shrimp follow the same grading scale as Crystal Red Shrimp, on the following scale: C, B, A, S, S+, SS, SSS. The “grade” indicates the amount of white to red (or black) ratio on the shrimp, but has no bearing as to quality. Quality of the shrimp is determined by the solidity of the red/black and the white–no visible gaps indicate higher “quality” shrimp.
